Einstein-de Sitter model [′īn‚stīn də′sid·ər ‚mäd·əl]

(relativity)

A model of the universe in which ordinary euclidean geometry holds good, the distribution of matter extends infinitely at all times, and the universe expands from an infinitely condensed state at such a rate that the density is inversely proportional to the square of the time elapsed since the beginning of the expansion.
