Trubetskaia, Ekaterina Ivanovna
(née Laval). Born Nov. 21 (Dec. 3), 1800; died Oct. 14 (26), 1854, in Irkutsk. Princess; wife of the Decembrist S. P. Trubetskoi. In July 1826, Trubetskaia voluntarily followed her husband into exile in Siberia; she was the first of the Decembrists’ wives to do so. Detained by the authorities in Irkutsk, she officially renounced her civil rights and noble privileges. Her name was immortalized by N. A.
