Another called Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) allows a company to run its own web sites replicated on several servers. Amazon's Elastic Compute Cloud resource and IBM's forthcoming "Blue Cloud" service both offer an outsourced cloud computing environment for developers and businesses. It also uses up to 750 "instances," or virtual machines, in Amazon's Elastic Compute Cloud during peak hours to help turn its clients' high-resolution photos and video files into different sizes for display online. |
