Electronic Clocks and Watches
clocks and watches in which a quartz-crystal oscillator is the source of periodic oscillations and the time is read from a digital display based on, for example, liquid crystals or light-emitting diodes. The periodic oscillations are converted into discrete signals that control the digital display. The conversion is carried out by an electronic device based on either integrated microcircuits, as in electronic wrist-watches, or semiconductor devices, as in electronic table clocks.
