In southwestern ID, east of Boise; organized Feb 7, 1889 (prior to statehood) from Alturas County. Name Origin: For the Ida Elmore Quartz Mine, largest producer of gold and silver during the 1860s.

    In east-central AL, north of Montgomery; organized Feb 15, 1866 from Montgomery, Coosa, and Autauga counties, and from Tallapoosa County in 1867. Name Origin: For Revolutionary War veteran John Archer Elmore, an early settler (1821) and state legislator.
