elf, in Germanic mythology, a type of fairy. Usually represented as tiny people, elves are said to dwell in forests, in the sea, and in the air. Although they can be friendly to man, they are more frequently vengeful and mischievous.

Sometimes his speculations seem extremely well-founded and supported by circumstantial evidence, as in his suggestion of a great library, rivaling that of Alexandria, at Armenelos on Numenor; in other cases it's rather more dubious, as in his assumption that there was a library of Elven lore at the Grey Havens (possible, but he puts forth no evidence for the claim).
But it seems that one peculiar moment was a blip, and he's now back in business serving up all manner of seasonal recipes that you would actually like to eat, and keeping his opinions on elven cleavages firmly to himself.
Due to a new procedure dubbed "elfification," cosmetic surgeons can now make a slit that will sharpen your ears and make you one step closer towards joining the Elven race.
