Endocrine Glands
in animals and man, the glands of internal secretion that have no excretory ducts and that release the substances they manufacture—namely, hormones—directly into the blood or lymph. The endocrine glands include the thyroid, parathyroid, adrenal, and pituitary glands. The sex glands (ovaries and testes) and the pancreas are characterized by both internal and external secretion.
