The historical significance of placing the country name up front refers to the days in the 1800s when English stout brewers supplied the Russian Imperial Court with their favorite beer - English stout.
An Englishman, Humphrey Parson, brought the first English stouts to France when he presented them to the court of Louis XV in the 1700s.
