EponaHorse goddess of the ancient Celtic religion. Associated with kingship and fertility, she was known as Epona in Gaul, Rhiannon in Wales, and Macha in Ireland. Her cult was found throughout the Western Roman empire and was spread by members of the Roman army, especially cavalry units. Epona (Bubona) goddess; watched over cattle and horses. [Rom.
