Ër Tabïldï
a Kirghiz folk epic. It originated circa the 15th or 16th century, when Dzungarian conquerors ruled the territory of Middle Asia. Ër Tabïldï develops two basic themes: the struggle against the foreign invaders, and interclan strife, which the epic condemns. The plot of the epic is based on the rivalry between the two sons of the khan Ermekan, the younger of whom, Tabïldï, rallies the people against the conquerors and secures a peaceful and happy life for them. Ër Tabïldï has been transcribed in versions sung by R. Dyikanbaev (1923), A. Tynybekov (1938), and Dzh. Dzhamgyrchiev (1940). TEXTSËr Tabïldï. Frunze, 1940.In Russian translation: Er Tabyldy.
