William Jordan Flake and Erastus Snow founded the town of Snowflake where, nearly a century later, Flake grew up on a cattle ranch as the fifth of 11 children. For early references to Godey's, see Erastus Snow to Wife, 23, March 1855 (ms 5394), LDS; Daily Telegraph, 8 July, 14 October, 1864. She said they were inspired when they walked where apostle Paul was sent from the city of Corinth or saw a centuries-old marker proving that Erastus built a road. |
