Ereshkigal

In Mesopotamian religion, the goddess of the underworld. Her chief enemy was her sister Ishtar, a fertility goddess and guardian of life. Namtar, the death-bringing demon, was her offspring and servant. Her cult extended to Egypt, Arabia, and Asia Minor.
