Starhemberg, Ernst Rüdiger Von
Born May 10, 1899, in Eferding, near Linz; died Mar. 15, 1956, in Schruns. Austrian state and political figure; large landholder. One of the leaders of the Heimwehr. Starhemberg was minister of internal affairs in 1930 and vice-chancellor from 1934 to 1936. One of the chief organizers of the reign of terror against the working-class movement, he was particularly active in the suppression of the armed uprising of February 1934.
