To the Editor: A report on erythema migrans (EM) caused by Borrelia spielmanii in a recent issue of Emerging Infectious Diseases (1) was a stimulus for a review of data on this Borrelia species in patients with early Lyme borreliosis (LB). Recurrent erythema migrans despite extended antibiotic treatment with minocycline in a patient with persisting Borrelia burgdorferi infection. Typical symptoms include fever, headache, fatigue, and a characteristic skin rash called erythema migrans. |
