In 2000, IBM renamed its major product lines under the eServer brand. The "e" in eServer was an "e" within a circle like IBM's earlier rendering of the word eBusiness. The eServer designation was dropped when the company migrated to its System brands (System z, System x, etc.). See IBM branding.

Using half the number of chips of the competition, IBM has announced that an IBM eServer p690 server system with 32 POWER4+ microprocessors running on DB2 Universal Database(tm) v8.
has introduced the latest Microsoft(R) FrontPage(TM) Server Extensions for the IBM eServer products with SuSE(R) Linux(R).
In order to deliver that value to our customers, IBM is working with Novell on this release and subsequent enterprise releases to make Novell Nterprise Linux Services available to customers across the IBM eServer product line.
