Sänger, Eugen
Born Sept. 22, 1905, in Pressnitz, Bohemia; died Feb. 10, 1964, in West Berlin. German physicist in rocket technology. After his graduation from a higher technical school in Vienna in 1929, Sanger worked there as an assistant from 1930 to 1935. In 1936 he became head of the Institute of Rocket Flight Technology in Trauen. From 1942 to 1945 he worked at the German Research Institute of Gliding at Ain-ring. In 1954 he was named head of the scientific research institute of the physics of rocket engines in Stuttgart. From 1950 to 1952 he was president of the International Astronautical Federation. In 1956 he became head of the Society of Rocket Technology and Space Flights in Stuttgart. Sänger primarily worked in the field of the technology of rocket flight, rocket planes, and photon rockets.
