Eulenburg, Philipp, Fürst zu (fē`lĭp fürst ts oi`lən-b rkh), 1847–1921, German diplomat, friend and confidential adviser of Emperor William II William II, 1859–1941, emperor of Germany and king of Prussia (1888–1918), son and successor of Frederick III and grandson of William I of Germany and of Queen Victoria of England...... Click the link for more information. . He served (1894–1902) as ambassador to Austria-Hungary, but it was his role as intermediary between the emperor and his government that made him important. In 1906 a scandal seriously damaged his reputation and indirectly weakened respect for the government. A famous raconteur and a dilettante composer, Eulenburg also left memoirs.
