Evans, Daniel Jackson (1925– ) governor, engineer, educator; born in Seattle, Wash. A naval reservist (1943–46, 1951–53), he served on the Armistice Commission at Panmunjon, Korea. After serving as a Washington state representative (Dem., 1956–65), he founded an engineering firm in 1959. Washington's only three-term governor (1965–77), he improved the state college system and initiated "Education for All" to serve the disabled. In 1977, he became president of Evergreen State College.
