Evening Roll Call

    0.03 sec.
Evening Roll Call

a daily roll call of privates and noncommissioned officers in subunits of the Soviet armed forces.

At the evening roll call the company duty officer assembles the company without weapons, and the company master sergeant or his deputy checks the personnel roster. The first names to be called are those of servicemen placed permanently on the company list or granted honorary status by an order of the minister of defense of the USSR for valorous service. At the end of the roll call, the company master sergeant reads the general and individual orders and assigns the details for the next day.

General battalion and regimental roll calls, at which all the officers of the battalion or regiment are also present, are held periodically. The company commanders conduct these roll calls and report to the battalion commander, who in turn reports to the regimental commander at the regimental roll call.
