Evesham (ēv`shəm, ē`vĭshəm), town (1991 pop. 15,069), Worcestershire, W central England, on the Avon River. Evesham is the center of the Vale of Evesham, known for its market gardens. It is also a popular summer resort. Simon de Montfort Montfort, Simon de, earl of Leicester, 1208?–1265, leader of the baronial revolt against Henry III of England.
