Egorova, Evgeniia Nikolaevna 

(pseudonym of Marta-Ella Lepin’). Born 1892; died Apr. 8, 1938. Soviet party and trade-union figure. Member of the Communist Party from 1911.

E. N. Egorova was born in the city of Rujiena to the family of a carpenter. She carried on revolutionary work in Riga and Moscow and met with repression and exile. She escaped from exile in 1916. On an assignment from the Russian Bureau of the Central Committee and the St. Petersburg party committee, she was involved in organizing an underground press for printing Pravda. After the February Revolution of 1917, she was a member of the Vyborg Raion revolutionary staff and later director of the agritprop section of tion of 1917, she was a member of the Vyborg Raion revolutionary staff and later director of the agritprop section of the Petrograd Province committee of the RCP (Bolshevik). In 1919 she became secretary of the Saratov Province party committee and later became involved in party work in Leningrad. In 1929, Egorova became chairman of the central committee of the garment workers’ union and a member of the presidium of the All-Union Central Council of Trade Unions; in 1934 became chairman of the central committee of the natural-rubber industry trade union and secretary of the All-Union Central Council of Trade Unions. She was a delegate to the Eighth, Ninth, Thirteenth, Sixteenth, and Seventeenth Party Congresses and was awarded the Order of Lenin.
