ExDOS

    0.02 sec.

ExDOS

A virtual DOS machine for PCs from Tao Computing Solutions, Ramat Hasharon, Israel (www.taocomputers.com). Using the built-in Virtual 8086 Mode of the x86 CPU, ExDOS enables DOS and 16-bit Windows applications (that run under DOS) to run effectively in 32-bit Windows desktop environments, including Windows 2000/XP/Vista and Windows Terminal Server 2000/2003.

DOS Becomes Integrated
ExDOS enables the DOS application to use network and USB printers as well as parallel port dongles and communications devices. Because legacy DOS applications are not thoroughly integrated into contemporary versions of Windows, ExDOS fills the gap for users who want to run essential DOS programs in late model PCs. See Virtual 8086 Mode.

dBASE III in Vista
A dBASE order entry program is running in an ExDOS virtual machine in Windows Vista. The program is able to print via ExDOS to the attached USB printer. When DOS was in its heyday, printers were connected to the parallel port (LPT1), not USB.
