The wiring and protocols that connect a computer's motherboard with the peripheral devices.
expansion busAn input/output pathway from the CPU to peripheral devices, typically comprising a series of slots on the motherboard into which expansion cards are inserted. PCI is a common expansion bus in a PC and other hardware platforms. See expansion card and PC data buses. See also bus extender.
