11 All told, there isn’t much on this chart that a goldbug wouldn’t like to see: the trend is moving higher (as in a series of higher highs and higher lows), price is accelerating up and away from the 12-month exponential moving average (EMA), the spread between the 12-month and 50-month EMAs is rising, and the 50-month EMA is also rising.
An exponential moving average multiplies a percentage of the most recent price by the previous period's average price.
For example, one way is to use a simple 14 period exponential moving average - or ema - on a one minute chart.
