Ezhov, Valentin Ivanovich
Born Jan. 21, 1921, in Samara (present-day Kuibyshev). Soviet screenwriter. Member of the CPSU since 1951. Ezhov graduated from the Ail-Union State Institute of Cinematography in 1951. His preeminent work was the screenplay for the film Ballad of a Soldier (1959; written in collaboration with G. N. Chukhrai), which was awarded the Lenin Prize in 1961. He wrote the screenplays for World Champion (1955), The Man From Planet Earth (1959; both in collaboration with V. I. Solov’ev), The Golden House (1960; in collaboration with D. Batozhabai and G. Tsydynzhapov), May You Be Happy, Ani (1961; in collaboration with B. Banov, produced in Bulgaria), With a Mind of One’s Own (1961), Flows the Volga (1963; in collaboration with la. A. Segel’), A Nest of Gentlefolk (1969; adapted from Turgenev), White Desert Sun (1970; in collaboration with R. Ibragimbekov), and The Legend (1971; in collaboration with Z.
