F. Gilbert Hills State Forest Location: In southeastern Massachusetts. From the north, take I-95 south to Route 140 north; from Rt 495, take exit 14 (which is Rt 1) north. Facilities: Picnic area, trails, restrooms (é). Activities: Hiking, horseback riding, mountain biking, off-road vehicle riding, hunting (with restrictions), cross-country skiing. Special Features: A "passive use" pine and oak forest, F Gilbert Hills has 23 miles of trails, including a portion of Warner Trail, a long-distance hiking trail that travels through Norfolk County enroute to Rhode Island.
