Fabricius, Johannes
Born Jan. 8, 1587, in Resterhave, Friesland; died circa 1615. German astronomer. Son of D. Fabricius. J. Fabricius was one of the first users of the telescope for astronomical observations. He discovered sunspots at the same time as but independently of Galileo and C. Scheiner. He published the results of his observations in the work De maculis in sole observatis (On Sunspots; 1611).
