Fantin-Latour, Ignace Henri Jean Théodore (ēgnäs` äNrē` zhäN` tēōdôr` fäNtăN`-lät r`), 1836–1904, French painter and lithographer. He is best known for his portrait groups of famous contemporaries. Notable examples are The Studio at Batignolles, Hommage à Delacroix, and Around the Piano (all: Louvre). His famous portrait of Manet is in the Chicago Art Institute. Influenced by Courbet, he depicted his friends with an almost photographic technique. He is also admired for still-life paintings of flowers.How to thank TFD for its existence?
