Name Origin: For Jean Baptiste Faribault (1774-1860), a French-Canadian fur trader in the Northwest Territory who had great influence with the Sioux. Area (sq mi): 721.61 (land 713.63; water 7.98). Pop per sq mi: 21.70. Pop 2005: 15,506. State rank: 57. Pop change: 2000-20005 -4.20%; 1990-2000 -4.50%.
