Farmington. 1 Town (1990 pop. 20,608), Hartford co., central Conn., on the Farmington River; inc. 1645. It is mainly residential with some light industries. The town has a private girls' school and the Univ. of Connecticut Medical Hospital (a teaching hospital). Of interest are the Congregational Church (1770) and two museums. 2 City (1990 pop. 33,997), San Juan co., NW N.Mex., at the confluence of the San Juan, Animas, and La Plata rivers; inc. 1901. A distribution point for the Navajo and Ute Mountain reservations, it is the trade center of an oil, natural gas, and irrigated farm area. The city itself has light industry.
