Farnion, Kosta
(pen name of Konstantin Soltievich Farniev). Born May 2, 1907, in the village of Nizhnii Urukh, now in Irafskii Raion, Severnaia Osetiia ASSR; died 1937. Soviet Ossetian writer. Member of the CPSU from 1926. In 1931, Farnion graduated from the department of literature of the K. Liebknecht Moscow Pedagogical Institute. His verse collections included Panpipes (1928), Avalanche (1930), and Listen! (1933). Farnion’s lyric poetry expressed the exaltation of a youth coming of age with the Soviet land. The drama A Farewell (1934) dealt with the struggle to establish Soviet power in Ossetia. Farnion’s The Sound of the Storm (book 1, 1932) is a novel of the October Revolution. WORKSUamtsmistä.
