Zbrozhek, Fedor Grigor’evich
Born Mar. 7 (19), 1849, in Chernigov; died Feb. 15 (28), 1902, in St. Petersburg. Russian hydraulic engineer. Graduated from the St. Petersburg Institute of Railway Engineers in 1872 (in 1887 he became a professor at the institute). He was the author of a well-known textbook on inland waterways. Zbrozhek’s principal works were devoted to problems of river and flood discharges, as well as to methods for calculating maximum discharges. He directed the construction of a port in Novorossiisk, took an active part in projects to regulate the Dnieper, Dnestr, Neman, and Vistula rivers, and organized and conducted research studies on a number of the most important rivers in the European part of Russia.
