Felix Iversen

Iversen, Felix 

Born Sept. 22, 1887, in Lübeck, Germany; died July 31, 1973, in Helsinki. Finnish social figure. The son of a merchant.

Iversen graduated from the University of Helsinki in 1909 and was a mathematician by education. He defended his doctoral dissertation in 1914. He was a teaching assistant in the mathematics subdepartment of the University of Helsinki from 1911 to 1916 and then docent from 1916 to 1920 and professor from 1920 to 1954. He became active in the struggle for peace in the 1920’s. Iversen was chairman of the Peace Union of Northern Europe from 1950 to 1952. He became a member of the World Peace Council in 1950 and in 1955 received the International Lenin Prize for Strengthening Peace Between Nations.
