Ferris, George

Ferris, George (Washington Gale) (1859–96) engineer; born in Galesburg, Ill. He was an engineer on a number of bridge projects during the 1880s and 1890s. He created a huge revolving observation wheel for the 1892 World Columbian Exposition in Chicago, the original "Ferris wheel."
