The London Symphony at the Barbican and London Philharmonic Orchestra at the Royal Festival Hall (both in London) each have fixed membership but most of their members are freelance musicians.
The Southbank Centre said it had removed the model of an orchestra, made from delicately folded sheet music, from the Royal Festival Hall (RFH).
It was installed in the Royal Festival Hall in 1951 using the Thames as a heat source and worked reliably until modernised in the recent Festival Hall refit.
