Field Firing
one of the types of troop combat training. It is done with service ammunition or live cartridges and serves training and drill purposes. Field firing is stipulated by the plan for troop combat training and is conducted on the level of the subunit, unit, artillery group, or several artillery groups combined. Field firing may be conducted during special training exercises or during the course of tactical drills and troop maneuvers. In order to conduct field firing, a situation is established in advance in which targets depict (simulate) enemy manpower, means of fire, and combat matériel disposed in battle formations. Field firing is classified according to purpose as practice firing, firing for record, demonstration firing, and experimental firing (firing on test ranges). Want to thank TFD for its existence?
