A raster image processor (RIP) from Electronics for Imaging, Inc., Foster City, CA (www.efi.com) that is noted for its high quality color processing and speed. Since 1991, the Fiery Color Server, which is a combination of hardware and software, has been used to transform digital color copiers into color printers. Toward the end of the 1990s, the Fiery components were added to lower-cost color devices such as laser printers and wide format inkjet printers.
