fighting fish: see betta betta or fighting fish, small, freshwater fish of the genus Betta, found in Thailand and the Malay Peninsula. Best known is the Siamese fighting fish, Betta splendens. Mature males of this species are about 2 in. (5 cm) long.

Byline: Mahmood Saberi We have killed two Siamese fighting fish and also a snail, which made me jump out of my skin one night, so we have put on hold any thoughts about adopting a stray cat.
Siamese Fighting Fish are justly a very resilient fish that can with stand water conditions that many other aquarium fish cannot.
The nephews moved on to peruse the Siamese fighting fish because boys like such things.
