a capacitor in which the dielectric consists of a synthetic polystyrene, polyethylene, polyethylene terephthalate, or fluoroplastic film. Film capacitors are made with capacitances of 100 picofarads to 100 microfarads at 40 volts to 20 kilovolts. They are used in DC and AC circuits, mainly in radio equipment.
