Fir Balsam

a clear, viscous yellowish liquid contained in nodules on the bark of Siberian firs (Abies siberica). To obtain the balsam, the nodules are punctured and the liquid is squeezed out. Fir balsam is primarily used as a cement for lenses and for mounting in microscopy.
