Fiske, Daniel Willard (1831–1904) book collector; born in Ellisburg, N.Y. A librarian and language professor at Cornell University (1868–83), he inherited a fortune on his wife's death; on retiring he moved to Italy and pursued literary interests abroad, collecting books on Dante, Icelandic culture, and the Rhaeto-Romantic languages, which he donated to Cornell along with a fund of over $500,000.
