the lowest temperature at which the vapour above a liquid can be ignited in air

flash point [′flash ‚pȯint]
(chemistry)
The lowest temperature at which vapors from a volatile liquid will ignite momentarily upon the application of a small flame under specified conditions; test conditions can be either open- or closed-cup.

flash point
The minimum temperature of a combustible material at which there is sufficient vaporization to produce a combustible mixture with air if ignited by a flame.
