Lactarius Vellereus
a pileate and gilled mushroom. The entire mushroom is firm and white. The cap, which measures 10–20 cm across, is dry and has a fine velvety surface. The gills are yellowish white, and the stem is short and thick. L. vellereus contains an abundance of white, acrid milky juice. The mushroom grows in clusters in hardwood forests from July through October. Although it is edible when salted, it is little used as food. Want to thank TFD for its existence?
