Fletcher, Frank J. (Jack) (1885–1973) naval officer; born in Marshalltown, Iowa. He commanded the combined USS Yorktown —USS Lexington task forces at the battle of Coral Sea (1942), the first sea battle fought entirely in the air. He was the tactical commander at Midway (1942) and commanded the North Pacific naval forces (1943–45).
