In east-central SC, east of Sumter; organized Dec 22, 1888 from Marion, Darlington, Williamsburg, and Clarendon counties. Name Origin: For Florence Harllee, daughter of Gen. William Harllee, first president of the Wilmington and Manchester Railroad Co.
