Flushing Machine
a machine designed for packing a worked-out space with barren rock during the underground mining of minerals. Flushing machines may be pneumatic or mechanical. A pneumatic flushing machine is used for the uniform supply of flushing material to the pipe through which it is trans-ported to the worked-out area by a stream of compressed air. Pneumatic flushing machines are differentiated according to their design as chamber, drum, screw-feed, and ejector types. Mechanical flushing machines may be of the throwing type, which fling the material by means of a rapidly moving belt, or the pressing type, which pack and consolidate the flushing material by compression. Pneumatic double-chamber and drum-type flushing machines are the most widely used types. Want to thank TFD for its existence?
