foaming agent
A substance that is added to a material in the plastic state to generate gases within the material and cause it to assume a lightweight, foamy structure; used with concrete mixtures, gypsum, plastics, rubber, etc.

Foaming Agent 

(also frothing agent), a material that facilitates the foaming of liquids and imparts stability to foams. Typical foaming agents include saponins, soluble proteins, soaps, and soaplike surfactants.
