Fokon
in fiber optics, a cone-shaped element made from conical glass threads bonded together. The core of each thread has a higher index of refraction than the cladding, and the ends are usually flat. The image projected on one end is transmitted with a corresponding change in scale to the other end. A fokon may serve as a light concentrator in small-aperture optical systems.
