Foote, Arthur (William) (1853–1937) composer; born in Salem, Mass. A student of John Knowles Paine at Harvard, he taught and played organ and wrote a good deal of late-Romantic music noted for solid craftsmanship; he was one of the "Boston Classic" school. |
