Ford, (Edward Charles) “Whitey” (1926–  ) baseball pitcher; born in New York City. During his 16-year career with the New York Yankees (1950, 1953–67), the left-hander won 236 games and the Cy Young award in 1961. He had more appearances (22), pitched more innings (146), had more strikeouts (94) and won more games (10) than any pitcher in World Series history. He was elected to baseball's Hall of Fame in 1974.
